ADVENTURES IN PRESSURE COOKING

Tonight I cooked my first meal with my new Fagor pressure cooker. I cooked a delicious chuck roast with potatoes and carrots. It was so tender and tasty! I am hooked. We are going to try a vegetarian white bean chili next.

I vividly remember my grandmother cooking with her pressure cooker. It was long ago (in the 60's-70's) when I was a child and I remember her scooting me and my cousins away from the stove and out of the kitchen and all the wonderful aromas coming out of the kitchen.

Here I am now, in 2010, all grown up with adult children and a grandchild of my own (and my second due in November) and now I have come full circle with pressure cooking of my own. I believe it is a quicker, healthier way of preparing food. I love to cook and bake but I have never been fond of microwave cooking. It has its uses like boiling water or melting butter...or microwave popcorn. The microwave works fine and dandy for that.

A blogger that I follow, Tracy Reifkind has made some incredible dishes with her pressure cooker and blogged about them and that is what first intrigued me to consider a pressure cooker, too.

I'm really glad that I took the leap into pressure cooking. I am so excited about the adventures to follow!

Congratulations on your new pressure cooker! I look forward to reading about your next adventures with it - and on your move to Tennessee (my sister-in-law is in Nashville).

Ciao!

I have never used a pressure cooker, but think it would be fun to try. They're supposed to cook things faster, right?

Laura, last night I cooked our 4.65pound pot roast in a little over an hour. It was tasty and tender! I also cooked quarters potatoes and chunks of carrots with it too. Pressure cooking also keeps the nutrients in food.

Hi Laura (elle pee)! Last night's dinner was a success and Wednesday night I am making the vegetarian white bean chili mentioned in my post.

We will be in Nashville for a visit in November. Looking forward to taking in one of our very favorite places to go!

Just wait! If you had such success your first time out, then it a mater of time before your giving your friends lessons in your kitchen...or on your blog, lol!

As you know the pressure cooker changed my cooking life, and rarely a day goes by that I don't use it....even in the summer. But I rarely have 2 or 3 pressure cookers going at the same time, because I'm much busier teaching KB's so much!

Please keep sending me your bloglinks to your PC cooking posts, I love it!
